The sprayed concrete primary lining works are now 75% completed and the secondary lining works approximately 8%. The Bond Street Station Upgrade project (BSSU) picked up pace toward the end of last year.
Secondary lining works commenced in November 2014 with all project staff working hard to finish works in the new concourse area between Escalators 6, 7 & 8 and Escalators 9 & 10. This was in order to end the closure of the Jubilee Line which had been impacting the day-to-day business of the Bond Street Station for almost five months. Meeting this deadline represented a major milestone in the project programme. It allowed the reopening of the station for the public just in time for Christmas shopping on Oxford Street.
The Dr. Sauer & Partners team has been assisting the project in design related matters since July 2013, when the shaft sinking works started. The team will remain on site until the sprayed concrete lining (SCL) and secondary lining works are completed, which is planned for early 2016. On completion of the project more than 400m of tunnels and shafts will have been constructed using state of the art SCL techniques.
The station upgrade will provide improved passenger flow underground. Scheduled opening to the public is 2018.
