The compliance stage design of the Sprayed Concrete Lined (SCL) tunnelling for Bank Station Capacity Upgrade is now complete and has been accepted by London Underground. The design for the Docklands Light Railway Temporary Works has also been completed, with an innovative SCL solution developed through close work with London Underground and Dragados. An additional SCL Temporary Works solution was developed by Dr. Sauer & Partners for the Northen line level lift connection, providing cost, time and safety benefits to the original squareworks design.
In addition, Dr. Sauer & Partners has commenced site supervision of the Arthur Street shaft enabling works. Dr. Sauer & Partners provided the Temporary Works design for the ground support to enable the construction of the gantry crane foundation. Once these works are complete, shaft and then tunnel excavation will commence.
In parallel, Stage 3 Building Damage Assessment for the 14 storey headquarters of N M Rothschild is underway with collaboration between Dr. Sauer & Partners and the Robert Bird Group. The task requires detailed Finite Element modelling of the tunnels, pile foundations and super structure to determine the impact on the building cores, internal finishes and façades. Finally, monitoring details including trigger values have been determined.
Dr. Sauer & Partners has also commenced the defect surveys for the LU below ground assests in the Bank-Monument complex. Many areas of the survey have already been completed in preparation for the Central line cable shaft works.
