The BSCES Geo-Institute will be holding a one-day seminar on "Recent Advances in Geotechnical Engineering" on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Bentley College. Over ten speakers will cover topics such as recent advances in automated data collection, field testing, composite/light weight materials, alternative foundation systems and innovative tunnel construction techniques.
Dr. Gerhard Sauer of the DSC will be on hand presenting his latest paper titled "Urban Tunneling: Where are We Today?". The session, which will review current methods/trends used for urban tunneling and will also highlight innovative advances utilized on new underground projects in the US and worldwide. Other topics covered include design, contracting and construction aspects for underground projects, as well as information on waterproofing and tunnel rehabilitation.
