Project Overview
Bond Street Tube Station is a London Underground (LU) station situated in central London. The station serves as an interchange between the Central and Jubilee Lines.
Currently over 155,000 passengers use the station daily and with the completion of Crossrail in 2017, passenger numbers are expected to increase to 225,000.
The works will include new escalators and an additional access route serving the Jubilee Line to reduce congestion, improved passenger interchange between the Central and Jubilee Lines; lifts to provide step free access from street level to the platforms via the ticket hall, as well as connection to the future Bond Street Crossrail station.
Main construction is scheduled to start in 2011 with completion in 2017.
DSC Services
DSC was initially employed as the specialist sub-consultant to Atkins for producing the sprayed concrete lining (SCL) design for the primary and secondary linings of the Northern Tunnel structures. Design drawings were produced up to Stage D+ of the RIBA Plan of Work.
The proposed works at Bond Street were then let as a design-build contract by the client LU. The winning tender was made by the joint venture (JV) of Costain and Laing O’Rourke with Halcrow being the lead design organisation.
DSC is the specialist sub-consultant to Halcrow for the tunnelling works. DSC will be responsible for the design of the primary and secondary linings for all SCL tunnel and shaft structures, developing the design drawings to Stage K. DSC will also provide site support services during the construction phase.
