ABSTRACT
Based on the „Richtlinie für die Geomechanische Planung von Untertagebauarbeiten mit zyklischem Vortrieb", a model to determine the distribution of rock mass behaviour types (GVT) within the alignment of a tunnel is presented. Using the classification system of E. Hoek which is based on the GSI, the percentiles of the GVT are determined. Input-Distributions are used to quantify the range of the rock mass parameters. Calculations were made using MS-EXCEL and the Add-In @RISK.
Considering the reliability of the geological assessment, distributions were also put to the length of the different geological units. The percentiles of GVT over the full alignment of the tunnel are calculated. The probability of their occurrence is quantified using Standard Deviation or Quantiles of their distribution. The determined percentiles of the rock mass behaviour types can be used to develop types of excavation and support to quantify both, costs and time of construction.
